P.F. WHO LETTUCE WRAPS

I have a video of me making this on YouTube and I posted it all the way back on 6/6/20! I also made these on Twitch when I did cooking livestreams on 8/6/21 and again on 7/14/22. It took me forever to make it again, but it finally happened!

When I made this recipe, I also had leftover tofu and brown beech mushrooms, so I also made a vegan option! Can you figure out which one it is in the picture? This made enough for 4 people to have 3 wraps each.

P.F. WHO LETTUCE WRAPS

Ingredients:

2 pounds of ground turkey or ground chicken

3 teaspoons of sesame oil

8 cloves of garlic (minced)

1 small sweet onion (small dice)

1/2 cup of hoisin sauce

7 Tablespoons of soy sauce

3 Tablespoons of rice vinegar

4 Tablespoons of fresh ginger (mined) I left mine kinda big for texture and taste.

4 Tablespoons of sriracha

1 can of water chestnuts (small dice)

2 heads of butter lettuce

Vegan version:

change out the ground turkey for

1 cup of brown beech mushrooms

2 cups of soft tofu

I did split the sauce up between the ground turkey and the vegan mix.

Reduce the sauce recipe by half!

Method of Preparation:

1. Add sesame oil to the pan and heat it up on medium-high heat.

2. While the pan is heating up add all of the liquid ingredients and the ginger and mix it until combined.

3 . Add the onions and and garlic and cook for until they are translucent.

4. After the onions are ready, add in the ground turkey until it is 100% cooked. If you are using the vegan mix, cook until the mix has reduced and the liquid has evaporated about 75% of the way. Mushrooms and tofu are pretty MOIST.

5. If needed, drain some of the turkey or chicken juice and add the sauce!

6. After the sauce has reduced a bit add in the water chestnuts.

7. When the sauce is sticking to the filling, spoon it on to the lettuce and enjoy!

Serving and Plating:

We used sesame seeds, green onions, sriracha and a bit of Zhong sauce as garnish. I recommend doubling up on the lettuce leaves, or it will rip and make a mess. These are super easy to make and tasty! It is very light and refreshing as well. Post your version of it in the forum!
